Schnapps Bowl Rules

 

               The rules to the Schnapps Bowl made by the commissioner and new rules will be added and subtracted by him/her as he/she feels fit for the good of the game.

 

General 

           1. Bring enough schnapps to keep oneself warm.

                a. All sources of alcohol will be allowed as long as the player is 21 years old or older.

                b. All players under 21 will be allowed to bring the non-alcoholic drink of their choice.

           2. Teams will be selected by last year's MVPs

                a. Captains are last year’s MVPs

                b. If MVP does not show up, last year's captain will be captain. If the last captain is also of the other team's captain, he/she will retain the one he/she won and the commissioner will choice another captain in the rank of years played.

                c. Winning captain of the schnapps bottle flip has first pick of players. Also has choice of ball or side at beginning of game. If the losing captain is given ball at beginning of game he/she will have choice of side to defend at beginnings of second half.

                d. Two players at a time will picked by captains, after first captain's pick of one. If odd number, next player that comes goes to the shorthanded team

                e. There will be no more than eight players per team to start game, if less than 16 players; teams will be of equal numbers. All extra players are subs (Number of players on field may be changed at game time by Commissioner)

            3. All players and Fans are to have fun while attending any Schnapps Bowl, If not having fun will be asked to sit down and take a time out. If asked twice, they will be asked to leave.

            4. Set of downs are four plays, one play may be a run in the set of downs.  All runs must be hand offs, quarterback may not run ball unless handing off or passing and getting ball back.

            5. First downs are 15 yards.

            6. All players are eligible to receive a pass or hand off. 

            7. If dispute on a play, captains will discuss play. If no decision is made, play will be done over.

            8. If a player is down and not touch, he may get up and run.

               b. If player is touch and is down, he down at that spot.

           9. Teams will bee awarded 1 time out per half, must bee used beefore 5 minutes of each quarter.

          10. Two minute warning will signal end of a quarter. The team with ball has it until their possession ends, either by downs or turn over.

               a. only exception to Rule G10 is if ball is turn over on first play after two minute warning

           69B. When said, all must take a drink

Shaun McKimmy Rule: Any player/fan is misbehaving will be told to take a time out. If asked twice to quit misbehaving will be told to leave. This rule is enforced by the commissioner's wife and may end up with the possibility suspension of one or more games.

Time

           1. Each quarter is a 30 minutes long.

               a. Time is kept by the commissioner on the field. Commissioner may allow another to keep time. Commissioner has final say in ending of all quarters, end of game, Overtime Extended Time and Extra time.

               b. All ties at the end of time running out will first go extended time and/or extra time before going go to Overtime. Each Overtime period is each team having one chance to score.

               e. Extra time will be awarded when the score of the game is less than 8 points between the two teams when time runs out.

           2. Each quarter, except the fourth (ET1), ends with the team having the ball when time runs out keeping possession until the loss of downs or loss of ball by fumble or interception, defense can run the fumble or interception back.

               a. Fourth quarter ends same as other, unless team with ball scores to tie, go ahead or bring score within 8 points, then extra time is played (see E1)  

 

Extra Time

               E1. Extra Time is awarded when time has run out at the end of the game and the score of the game is less than 8 points between the two teams.

              a. When a game ends with one team leading by less than 8, if the leading team has the ball as time runs out, they must score on that drive or give the losing team one more chance to score.

              b. If the losing team has the ball as time runs out, they will have a chance to tie or go ahead. If they go ahead, the other team has one more drive to tie or win.

              c. If the losing team ties the game, and the other team doesn’t score the game will go into overtime.

              d. If the winning team scores after their losing team ties or goes ahead, they win.

Extended Time

           ET1. Is awarded to the team that has the ball at the end of the quarter (except 4th) when time has run out.

            a. Team with ball will keep it until they run out of downs or other team intercepts or recovers football.

            b. If defense intercepts of recovers fumble, they allowed advancing ball until downed or score.    

 

Overtime

           1. Overtime is used when both extra and extended time still ends game in tie.

           2. Each team will be given the chance to score

           3. Winning MVP or captain (from last year bowl) will choose to have ball first or second.  

           4 a. Ball is placed on 30 yard line.

              b. Teams have a chance for a first down.

              c. same playing rules apply in overtime as same as regular game.

           5. If one team scores and other doesn’t game over. If both score and still tied after conversions or don’t score, another overtime period will be taken.

           6. If no scoring after three (3) overtimes, game will be called a tie.

Field

           1. Field size is as followed, 110 yards long (90 yard playing field and two 10 yard end zones) by 45 yard wide.

              a. Commissioner may change the size of the field if he/she wants to.

           2. Lines on field are considered out bounds.. All cones are out of bounds

Kicking

            1. Kick-offs will start on the 15 yard line.

            2. Punts may be kicked or passed.

            a. Punts may not be advanced, ball is marked where it lands.

                b. Punts may be caught, if touched and ball advances; it is placed where it was touched.

                    If touched and ball goes behind player, it is marked where it finally lands.

Passing

            1. All players are eligible to catch a pass. 

            2. Any pass or pitch that is done in front of the line on scrimmage and hits an offensive player and is not caught, will be an incomplete pass.

              a. Any time a thrower is in the grasp of a defensive player and throws or pitches the ball and doesn’t cross the scrimmage line, will be an incomplete pass.

              b. Passes throw behind the line of scrimmage and behind the thrower, will be considered a pitch and can be played if fumbled.

             c. Only one foot down is necessary for a pass catch to be good, but player must have control of ball as he/she goes and ends up or lands out of bounds.

              d. If player catches pass while on ground, can get up and advance ball if not touch while going down.

              e. A fumble will be played if quarterback loses ball when arm has not fully competed in a forward motion.

              f. Cones are out of bounds. Touching a cone even with feet on line will be considered out of bounds.

 

              g. Player must have possession of ball to be a complete pass when going out of bounds.

 

             h. Player may step on line and not be out of bounds. Complete foot must be pass line to be out of bounds.

             I. Rush cannot begin until the ball touches the quarterback’s hand(s).

Running 

             1. All players are eligible to run ball.

             2.  All run play must be handoffs.

                  a. Quarterback cannot run ball unless he hands-off and then is given ball back by, hand-off, pitch or pass.

           3. Quarterback may run ball only on a 1 point conversion after a touchdown.

           4. If more than one run play is attempted during a series of down, play will call dead and done over.

           5. Fumbled hikes cannot be run without ball still being handed off.

            

Scoring

           1. A touchdown count as six (6) points.

              a. Extra points conversions counts as two (2) points for pass and one (1) point for a run.

              b. Extra point conversions must be attempted after each touchdown and in all quarter, extended time, extra time and overtime.

              c. Quarterback may run for one (1) point. This is the only play the quarterback may run without handing off first.

              d. A defensive player can run back a fumbled for one (1) point or intercepted ball for score of two (2) points. 

              e. At least one foot must be inbounds on all catches, touchdowns or otherwise.   

Mistakes  

          1. Offside - is play over.

          2. Interference-

              a. Offence - Lost of down

              b. Defense - Automatic first down, but ball remains at spot of original play.

          3. All quarterbacks runs and any second run plays attempted during a series, will be considered a dead play and down will be ran over with no loss of down.

          4. Player Misconduct penalty - A 15 yard penalty may be asserted on a player or team for misconduct out of line with play.

 

 

Commissioner Ruling

          1. Commissioner will review all rules before the next Schnapps Bowl and make changes he might think necessary.

           2. Past players that have played before and want to still be part of the Schnapps Bowl experience, may let themselves be chosen on a team, will be allowed to play on any or all punt plays.

           3. No fighting will take place before, during or after the Schnapps Bowl

                a. Player(s) that start arguing will be given a time out and/or ejection.

                b. Player(s) that start a fight will be ejected from game and asked to left.

                c. Player(s) ejected from game for fighting will ban from playing for one or more Schnapps Bowls.

                d. Player(s) banned from playing may appeal their banning in writing to the Commissioner’s office.

           e. Before a banned player(s) is allowed to play in a Schnapps Bowl, he/she will have to apologize for his/her actions and attend (not play) a Schnapps Bowl before playing again.

            4. For New players to be eligible to play in a Schnapps Bowl must attend as a fan for one year before being eligible to play. Attendee (if they are interested in playing, should let the commissioner know of your interest in playing in a future game) will then be asked to play if needed in future bowl games. Attending doesn't mean you are able to play the following year, but eligible if asked.
